Cavities (tooth decay)

Cavities (tooth decay) occurs when the acid by-product of certain bacteria erodes our tooth enamel and spreads through till it reaches the second layer of our teeth (dentin) and ultimately the pulp (danger zone!). Plaque holds a lot of the bacteria to our teeth and so the acid mixed in with the plaque stays on our teeth and starts to break down the tooth.  That's why it is important to remove plaque efficiently twice a day and floss daily.  Basically, cavities are holes in our teeth.  No one wants holes in their teeth! Call us today to see if you have a "hole-y" tooth. Are you laughing at my bad joke? No? Okay then...
