Plaque

See that white, cottage cheese-looking stuff on the teeth in this picture? That's plaque. Plaque is a biofilm that is constantly forming on our teeth every day.  That's why as dentists we can get a little grumpy when you don't brush twice a day and floss daily!  If the plaque is not removed efficiently everyday, it will build on itself and becomes a hard rock-like substance called tartar (or calculus).  Tartar (calculus) cannot be removed with regular toothbrushing and flossing at home, but has to be removed by a dental healthcare provider.  Book your appointment today so we can get those teeth sparkling clean again!
